Making sure you leave enough time for your pictures on your wedding day is super important. No matter how efficient your photographer is, it is always better to have a plan or at least an idea on how much time will be necessary to cover each of the special moments that will happen during the day. It is very important that you and your photographer are on the same page when it comes to these times specially if you want every moment capture without any delays. Here are some of our recommendations that can help you coordinate the time you will need for pictures on your special day.
DETAILS - 30 minutes
This moment marks the beginning of the day with your photographer. Please make sure all your details are ready and in one location easy for your photographer to find upon arrival. Your Dress, Veil, Shoes, rings, garter, invitation, jewelry, etc. All must be located in the room where you would like them to be photograph and located in one safe location. Specially the rings. Make sure the room is clean and free of clutter. The bridal suit can get messy and if your photographer has to spend time cleaning your room for pictures that is precious time he can be using to take more details pictures.
CANDIDS -30 minutes
After your photographer is done with the details. It is time to capture some candid moments of you and your bridesmaids in the room. At this point the photographer will help create some moments but most of them will be capture spontaneously. This is a great time for you to relax and enjoy this few minutes before you start getting dressed. You should devote at least 30 minutes for these photos.
MINI BRIDAL BOUDOIR - 15 to 20 minutes
If you are in the mood for something sexy. A mini bridal boudoir session is the way to go. If you are thinking on taking some pictures by yourself right before you put on your wedding dress please make sure to let your photographer know in advance so the time for this photos can be added to your timeline.
THE DRESS - 30 minutes
It is time to get dressed. At this point all your bridesmaids should be also dressed and ready for pictures. Mom should be also ready by now. This is the time for some of the most iconic pictures of the bride getting ready and your photographer will direct them in order to be on the best location for light and making sure everyone is doing their part while you get in your dress.
FATHER DAUGHTER FIRST LOOK - 15 minutes
This is probably one of my favorite moments. It is a moment so special and emotional that I have to admit it makes me cry every time. Your photographer will help you plan for this moment if this is something you are planing to do.
GROOM GETTING READY - 20 minutes
The boys are much more easy to photograph. However their room might be more chaotic than the bride's. If you are planing to have the groom photographed while getting ready please make sure to plan for these images too. If you have a second photographer most likely these photographs will happen simultaneously while the bride is being photographed. Otherwise please make sure to talk to your photographer to make sure these photos are scheduled correctly on your timeline.
THE FIRST LOOK - 30 minutes
Another of my favorite moments. Not only because it is very exciting to see the bride and groom's reaction when they see each other for the first time. But also because it is a great opportunity to capture more images of them in a more intimate setting.
FAMILY PORTRAITS - 30 to 60 Minutes
Family portraits need to be scheduled on time and you and your family must follow the directions from your photographer to the T. You have to make sure to make a list of all the family members taking part of these portraits and inform them with plenty of time of their participation. If you are having these portraits done before the ceremony please make sure to coordinate with your photographer the location where these portraits will take place so you can inform your family members where the meeting place will be. If you are doing them right after the ceremony then you must let your family know that they have to remain seated after the ceremony and wait for instructions from your photographer. Running late for theses photos can affect the number of combinations that the photographer can make and even having to stop these photos entirely in order to continue with the flow of your day.
BRIDAL PARTY - 30 to 60 minutes
The time for these photos may vary depending on how large your bridal party is and the location where they will take place. Please make sure to coordinate with your photographer before hand how much time must be allocated for these photos.
BRIDE AND GROOM - 30 to 60 minutes
This is your moment. Make sure you plan for it because this is the time to get the most beautiful photographs for the first time as husband and wife. Coordinating the time and the locations where you would like these photographs to take place is super important. Your photographer will make the best of the time for these pictures making sure you make it on time for your Grand Entrance.
IT'S PARTY TIME
From here your wedding most likely will be photographed in full photojournalistic style. With very minimum intervention from your photographer. Unless the photographer sees an opportunity to create something in the moment. If you have other formalities that require the attention of your photographer please make sure to inform him of such moments and when they will be taking place. Remember that weddings are very unpredictable events and the most planing you do the better prepared your photographer will be to capture the most memorable moments of your special day.
